Electronic City

Electronic City, a well known name with both the tech savvy and the layman, has become a huge Information Technology and Industrial area. With the birth of IT in Bangalore, there was a need to have an area dedicated extensively for the sole purpose to making Bangalore a Silicon Valley of India.
There are many IT and ITES companies spread widely across its vast area of 332 acres. This area is divided into Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III. The conceptualization of an IT Hub in Anekal taluk was formulated by R.K. Baliga, the first chairman and managing director of Keonics, Karnataka Electronics. Currently, the management of Electronic City comes under Electronic City Industries Association (ELCIA) which looks after the overall maintenance of Electronic City, they also have a fully armed mobile security unit that prowls the locality round-the-clock.

The flyover connecting Electronics City (Photo courtesy: Sankalp India Foundation)
The 9 km-long elevated tollway, stretching from Bomanahalli to Electronic City, has been a boon for the IT professionals taking this route. Earlier, the constant traffic snarls along Hosur Road from Silk Board Junction to Electronic City were delaying these professionals from reaching their offices on time. Now, one can travel from Silk Board Junction to Electronic City within 15 minutes. There are BMTC buses starting from Silk Board Junction that travel on the elevated tollway. Many people opt for these buses (though it might be a little costlier than the normal bus tickets), as they go faster than the other BMTC buses that travel on the highway.
There was a need to provide reasonable houses and accommodation for people around this area, hence there was a sudden rise of townships, gated communities, apartments, schools, colleges, provision stores, entertainment places to cater to the needs of the residents in this area, as Electronic City is located far from the heart of the city. Some of the important city centres like MG Road (19 km), BTM Layout (13 km), HSR Layout (11.3 km), Koramangala (14.4 km), JP Nagar (16.2 km), Shivajinagar Bus Stand (20 km), Majestic Bus Stand (22 km), and Hosur (26 km) are well connected to this area. Bangalore International Airport (60 km) and Bangalore Railway Station is (24 km) from Electronic City. There are regular buses for these locations.
Some of the nearby hospitals include Ramakrishna Healthcare & Trauma Centre (4.4 km), the Apollo Clinic (3 km), and Live 100 Hospital in Singasandra area (7 km) from Electronic City. There are many bus stops strategically located within the radius of Electronic City. The last bus stop is at Wipro Technologies which also is the starting and ending stop for all buses to Electronic City. There is an auto stand near Lords Plaza from where people can travel to other parts of the town.
There are many food joints throughout the vicinity offering scrumptious delicacies. People visit these places for birthday treats and team lunches. Some of the restaurants are New Punjabi Food Corner, Beijing Bites, Andhra House, Chung Wah, Golden Fork, Pallavi Grand, Pizza Hut, Dominos Pizza, and Hyderabadi Spice.
If you are planning a trip, you can book bus tickets online through ticketgoose.com, an online bus ticket booking website. There are many boarding points for various bus travel operators along Hosur Road. Many people board their Bangalore to Chennai bus and other buses from these points as they are closer to their companies. KPN Travels and Parveen Travels are two such private bus operators that operate on this route.

Believe It or Not- Amarnath’s Legendary Tale

A place that would mesmerize you with its ice stalagmite, a place referred to as one of the holiest shrines of India bestowed in the caves that are surrounded by snowy peaks, a place that was forgotten after the Middle Age and was later discovered by a shepherd and, a place that is a famed Yatra destination for the Hindus. Yes, Amarnath Cave Temple, located approximately 141km from Srinagar is one of the popular Hindu shrines that can be accessed from the Pahalgam town. As the name suggests cave, it is fully covered with snow and only during the summer, the ice melts and makes way for the pilgrims to see the ice Shiva Lingam.
People say that this is the place Lord Shiva explained the secret of life and eternity to his consort, Goddess Parvati. Before entering the cave he left behind the Nandi at Pahalgam, released the moon at Chandanwari and snakes at Lake Sheshnag, left his son; Lord Ganesha back at Mahaganesh Mountain and at Panjtarni, he sacrificed the five elements. The existence of this place comes in two ways; wherein the first one, it was the shepherd who discovered this place and in another it says, the valley of Kashmir was submerged under water, a Muni drained it through streams and rivers and then he was the first one to have the darshan of Lord Mahadev. Thus, the snow-capped mountains during summer melts and water flowing through the cave form the shape of a Lingam. Since then it has become an abode of Lord Shiva and a pilgrimage in numbers of lakhs is done every year to this place.
Generally, the Yatra is made in the months of June to August with Pratham Pujan at the beginning to get the blessings of Lord Shiva. From Delhi, you can board a bus till Shimla and then take a cab or a bus to Pahalgam. At this place, pilgrims start packing clothes and foods as they have to travel by foot to reach the Shrine which would come up to five days of travel. On the route to the Shrine, several non- profit organizations supply food and resting tents to the pilgrims. Of all the years, 2013 holds the maximum number of pilgrims visiting the Shrine.
If you are a die- hard devotee or interested in making a darshan at this auspicious place, make your bus ticket booking at TicketGoose at the earliest as the dates have been announced for the Yatra that is starting from 29th June to 7th August.

Did you know that Golconda has a Secret Tunnel to Charminar!!

The Ravenclaw’s Diadem was one of the Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes that had to be destroyed to fight back the evil. Besides the fact that the gates of Hogwarts were closed for Harry Potter, he somehow had to enter the wizard school to take hold of the crown, but how was his question and it was then his friend took him via a secret passage that led him directly to the school’s dormitory. Amazing isn’t it? How does it feel if I have to say, “Pack your bags to visit a secret passage in India that is eight km long”?
Would you believe it or think it is just a myth? Try not to, because, it is believed that there is an eight-kilometre long hidden tunnel in the city of Hyderabad that connects Charminar and the Golconda Fort. The tunnel connecting the two places was built by the city’s founder, Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah for providing safe passage to the royal families in case of any emergency. It is also believed to have hidden treasures kept by the Nizams with emergency exits at varied locations.
To prove its existence, excavation work was started in the palace place near Saif Nawaz Jung Deorhi which on digging, 30 feet deep and 15 feet wide tunnel opening was found. Similar to it was seen in another locality named Doodh Khana Allah Rakhi Begum. The excavations revealed that the tunnel had two branches which led past the famous Laad Bazaar, Puranapul Darwaza, Toli Masjid and Langar Houze to the Gosha Mahal near Charminar. Efforts were taken to clear the tunnel but the laborers found that the tunnel has been collapsed due to non- usage of it for a very long time.
If preserved well, it would have been one of the desired tourists’ spots for many. Don’t you want to unveil the real truth behind it? Meet the locals and get to know other tunnels of Hyderabad as people say there might be tunnels running down their houses as well. So, visit TicketGoose.com, India’s leading online bus ticket booking portal and make your bookings in leading travel operators like Jabbar Travels,Meghana Travels and Kaleswari Travels to discover the truth.
