With port city on one end- Vizag and “The City of the Nawabs” on the other side- Hyderabad, this Southern state of India has always added grace to India’s tourism. Though Andhra speaks loud about the different destinations persisting within its boundaries, one such tourist spot that is heard less off but regarded as the Ooty of the Eastern Ghats is Araku Valley. A valley drenched with tropical lush greenery, an exuberant resonance of streams growing profusely and a strong whiff of the aromatic coffee bean plantations is all what it manifests of.
Located at a distance of 80km from Vizag and at an altitude of 1400 metres above the sea level along the Eastern Ghats, this valley houses several conspicuous destinations. So, ride with me throughout this blog to unveil what has Araku Valley kept for you;
1. Tyda Park-
It is an ozone-friendly project where activities like camping, trekking, rock climbing, bird watching and target shooting using bow and arrow are encouraged here with tourists made to stay in log huts or tents that are built in the tribal surroundings. This park is inclusive of different kinds of birds and animals whose existence are clearly explained by guides. It is operational on all days from 7am to 7pm and closed on public holidays.
2. Araku Tribal Museum-
If you want to know the culture and lifestyle of the tribal clique living here then a visit to this place has to be in your bucket list. Here you will notice houses built using mud and clay with a rugged theme in it conducting workshops and exhibitions very often. Also, you can easily spot the tribe’s daily chores like utensils, jewellery and hunting tools along with sign boards to provide relevant information about the place.
3. Padmapuram Botanical Garden-
Though a botanical garden now, was once a historical garden where vegetables were supplied to the soldiers who fought in the second world war. Hosted in the Araku Road, this garden is known for its exhilarated facilities starting from the toy train giving a tour of the garden to a rose garden where roses can be purchased by the visitors to the tree top huts which can be booked by the tourists for staying.
