Kovalam Beach
It’s summer!!! And where countries like Poland, Russia, Spain and few more are celebrating its beginning, we at India, are busy switching our air conditioners on and sticking it to 16, drinking lot more juices that are summer-proof and what not. Ha-ha!! So, it’s time that you rock your summers at any of the Indian beaches and if you are a resident of Chennai then Kovalam should be in your bucket for its tranquil shores, bright weather, a mixture of warm and cool breeze, glittery white sand with colorful seashells and attractive palm trees.
Covelong Beach also called by many as Kovalam Beach is one of the famed beaches in the Southern India located in a fishing village, Covelong that is approximately 40kms from Chennai. It resides near the East Coast Road on the way to Mahabalipuram, the place famous for temples. ECR itself is one of the scenic highways in the state, dotted for recreational retreats and Covelong is one such place that has attracted several tourists and local people on account of its picturesque beauty. On an average, almost 1000 visitors can be seen per day on this beach which is indeed a very good number.
Covelong was earlier a port and under the control of the Dutch, there was a fort built which was later destroyed by the British and majority of the fort is now converted into a hotel but the ruins can be still seen today. Covelong is eminent for water sports activities like swimming, water surfing, kayaking, windsurfing and much more which allures delighted travel freaks to come and have a good time of their own. There are several surf schools here that help you learn surfing in hours so that you need watch how others surf. Apart from these, there is also an ancient Catholic church and mosque that beholds the eyes of many.
Trust me; there is nothing great than plunging into the pool or dipping into the ocean and letting the sun smile at you. Thus, escape from the monotonous life of yours and drive straight to this spectacular Beach with TG team to fade your stress into oblivion
