The important festival associated with this temple is the Meenakshi Thirukalyanam that is celebrated in April every year. The temple will be open between 5 am to 12:30 pm and between 4 pm to 9:30 pm.
Thirumalai Nayak Palace — It is a 17th century AD palace built by the king Thirumalai Nayak. This palace is a classic mixture of Dravidian and Rajput styles. This palace is considered as one of the wonders of the South. It is situated 2 km south east of the Meenakshi Amman Temple. Lot of films shooting are taken in this palace because of the big pillars. The palace is well equipped to perform light and sound shows. Palace will be opened between 9 am to 1 pm and between 2 pm to 5 pm.
Gandhi Memorial Museum — Gandhi Museum was established in the year 1959 and it is one of the five Gandhi Museums in the country. This museum has a part of the blood-stained garment worn by Gandhiji when he was murdered by Nathuram Godse. The palace of Rani Mangammal was renovated and converted as Gandhi Museum. It highlights the picture galley of Gandhian movement. Museum will be opened between 10 am to 1 pm and between 2 pm to 5:30 pm.
