The Shore Temple — It is called Shore Temple because it faces the shore of Bay of Bengal. Shore Temple is a structural temple built with blocks of granite in the 8th century AD which is one of the oldest structural stone temples of southern part of India. This temple is a combination of three shrines that is dedicated to Lord Shiva (2 shrines) and Lord Vishnu (1 shrine). The outer walls of the temple have large sculptures of Nandi. ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) is protecting these sculptures by planting Casurina trees along the coastal line.
Pancha Rathas — There are five monuments in the Pancha Rathas that resembles like a chariot. The structures are named after the Pandavas and their wife Draupadi. The five rathas are named as Dharmaraja Ratha, Bhima Ratha, Arjuna Ratha, Nakula Sahadeva Ratha and Draupadi Ratha according to the size.
Krishna’s Butterball — It is also referred as Vaan Irai Kal and Krishna’s Gigantic Butterball. It is a gigantic granite stone that is approximately 6 meters high and 5 meters wide. The weight of this stone is around 250 tonnes and is said that it is resting at the same place for about 1200 years. This stone is listed as a historical monument by Archaeological Survey of India.
